Overview

Motivational speaker turned longevity investor. Co-founder of Fountain Life ($21,500-a-year subscription diagnostics, $108 million raised) and investor in Celularity, a stem cell company, according to his own book and press coverage. Co-authored "Life Force" with his business partners, a #1 New York Times bestseller that promoted companies he owns. Appeared at a CMS quality conference, reportedly impressing Oz enough to earn a seat. He was the only member absent from the committee's first meeting in May 2026 and was sworn in the next day. In June 2026 Celularity and Fountain Life began offering an FDA-unapproved placental cell therapy to Florida physicians under a 2025 state law. Celularity's June 30 quarterly report showed $586,000 in cash and substantial doubt about its ability to continue, followed by a recapitalization in September. Senators Wyden and Merkley called him a motivational speaker with no healthcare credentials.

Red flags

Conflicts and concerns

Zero healthcare policy expertise. No medical degree, no policy credentials, no operational healthcare experience. Qualification is celebrity, wealth, and political access.

Direct commercial conflict: if committee recommends CMS coverage for precision diagnostics, longevity screening, or regenerative medicine, Robbins' companies benefit directly.

"Life Force" is effectively a 400-page advertisement for companies Robbins owns. Co-authors are his business partners.

Celularity and Fountain Life sell an FDA-unapproved cell therapy in Florida under a state pathway; Celularity reported going-concern doubt in 2026.

Health policy community reaction to his appointment: "somewhere between confusion and amusement."

Physician-owned hospitals

No connection to physician ownership whatsoever. Robbins' commercial interests are in direct-pay longevity and diagnostics: a market that benefits from CMS coverage expansion but has nothing to do with the physician-owned hospital question.
